Red and Rover is always my go-to comic strip. This one is from June 30, 2012.
For some people it’s dog poop; for others it’s slugs. I notice that Rover obviously doesn’t mind them.

Ok, but how big are the slugs? And how heavy is Rover compared to Red?
I once knelt on a banana slug in the Vancouver area and it took quite a bit to get it out of my pant knee. It was really disgusting.
I’m not sure where the strip is supposed to take place. The artist, Brian Basset was born in the eastern US and went to college here in Ohio. Slugs around here are 1 inch long, max.
But then he started the strip in Seattle, so he certainly knows what a banana slug looks like. Since we can’t see any in the grass in the strip, I’d guess it’s more midwest/east.
Note however that Red appears to be a strict “months-without-R” barefooter … or almost: This year’s last barefoot strip was on september 3, http://www.gocomics.com/redandrover/2017/09/03
Curiously he’s often seen wearing shoes at home in the fall/winter months.
Missing your posts. Hope you’re ok…
I’m a bit worried too – it’s been a month since you posted anything. I can only hope you’re fine, but maybe tired after all those years of writing for us. I wish you all the best and I will be waiting for any news you’ll have to share with us.
