Ken Bob Saxton, in his book Barefoot Running, Step by Step, identifies what he calls B.R.E.S.: Barefoot Running Exuberance Syndrome. He refers to some of the pains one can get when getting too exuberant about barefoot running and overdoing it. Like everything else, you have to work up to barefoot running.

The same principle applies to acclimating to the cold. I’ve called that Acclimatization Inadequacy Syndrome.

The leaves are changing. There have been a couple of cold fronts that have passed through with attendant rain. We even had frost one night. But the temperatures are still getting up into the 50s (10C).

I hear of barefooters in warmer climes for whom 50° is too cold. OK. But for around here (central Ohio), it’s nothing. Or at least, it can be nothing if you acclimate yourself.

This episode should just have been called “Cody’s End”. And it’s also my end, and the end for an awful lot of viewers. The show is ostensibly a behind-the-scenes look about “who’s moving on”.

But we all knew all that going into the show, and we were able to see them pick and choose the story line they wanted to portray.

The “Glacial Downfall” episode was the last “adventure” with Cody Lundin. Anybody who was hoping to see any reason for his firing was sorely disappointed. If anything, there was plenty there if you were looking for a reason to fire Joe Teti, but I guess that sort of idiocy was what the producers were looking to continue.

What I found most interesting was that Joe’s tirades against Cody were so typical of what we barefooters have to put up with.

“Deadly Dunes” was the second-to-last episode with Cody Lundin. It was actually quite a fun watch, even though it did still have a few frustrating bits of misinformation in it, and the usual arrogance of Joe Teti.

“Desert Dunes” took place in Oman, in the Arabian Desert.

We continue our countdown to the end of Dual Survival as we knew it, or at least to the end of why any barefooter would care about the show.

Today I’ll look at the second part of “No End in Sight,” in which Cody and Joe are wandering through the jungle in Sri Lanka.

There’s a statistics page on WordPress that lets me see all sorts of information on my blog entries. I get to see things like numbers, what countries readers are from, what people click on, and what search terms have led folks to the blog.

Normally, about here I’d let you know what new show is on tonight, but “Misty Mountain Drop” was the final episode of this season (Season 3). There are some reruns tonight (at 6, 7, & 8, EDT).

As far as the executive producer of the series is concerned, Season 3 did very, very well in the ratings. I’d guess that that means we’ll see a Season 4 next year.

So now, here are my thoughts on last weeks show, “Misty Mountain Drop”.
