Jimmy Buffett is pretty well-known for going barefoot, at least during his concerts. It’s part of being a relaxed parrothead. I’m reminded of him since I caught him on the Ellen Show yesterday.

But celebrity barefooting always seems to be rather limited.

The “Barefoot” Card in Advertising

There’s a real schizophrenia amongst the public when it comes to bare feet. On the one foot, there’s the whole problem of being in public with bare feet. On the other foot, people also recognize just how comfortable and natural it is.

The latter point is so true that even advertisers try to sell their products by depicting bare feet.

What Is It About Heels?

There have been two stories in the news lately about women having to give up high heels. One is about Sarah Jessica Parker, Sarah Jessica Parker Is Done With High Heels… Unless They’re Really, Really Nice; and the other about Jessica Simpson, Jessica Simpson Stops Wearing Heels During Second Pregnancy, Practices Walking In Flats.

The real question is why so many women voluntarily wear the things that will ruin their feet.

One of the “Weird News” stories going around yesterday was this one from the Leopold Museum in Austria, Nude Museum: Austria’s Leopold Lets Visitors Enjoy Without Clothes.

I spent the weekend traveling (to do fun stuff at my destination) and spent a fair bit of time in airports. I saw quite a few escalators with different signs on them, so I thought I’d address how much you are required to follow those signs.
