Today’s strip is from the comic Henry, started in 1935 by Carl Anderson. By 1942, Anderson’s arthritis kept him from drawing the strip, so after that it was drawn by John Liney.

The first thing of interest is how easily his mother suggested that Henry go barefoot. It’s a nice day—why not? But that was then.
The second thing of interest is that barefooters even today still have trouble with pet stores. A place like PetSmart even invites you to bring your (barefoot) pets in with you, but occasionally an employee will object to a barefoot human, for some odd reason. But it is not PetSmart’s policy, and pointing out the ridiculousness of the situation to the employee usually works.
