Our comic strip for today is from Emmy Lou, by Marty Links. While the republish date is March 3, 2014, it looks like it was originally published on July 20, 1964.
Emmy Lou started out as a strip, in 1944, called Bobby Sox (named after a very popular shoe of the time). In 1954, as the “Bobby Sox” fad changed, so did the name of the strip.
I think this particular cartoon shows how casually teenage girls would (and could) go barefoot back in the 1960s.
What is to “charge things”?
To use a credit card. (They were pretty new back then, too.)
