Continuing with our sequence of strips from Red and Rover, again the joke isn’t about bare feet, but they are just a natural part of a 10-year-old boy in the summer in the 1960s. This comic appeared on June 20 last year.

Looks like this boy excellently masters the art of being lazy, and his mother is smart enough not to fill up his day with tasks. (If we want to teach our children to do something good with their time, we need to give them free time when they can freely decide what to do.)
Red, consider yourself lucky that your mother doesn’t force you to wear shoes all the time. That would really ruin your summer vacation 🙂
I think this strip has a very timeless feel. It could take place every time since jeans and t-shirts came in fashion for boys (1940s or 1950s in the US?).
