Slate recently had an article about how Hippie fashion is back for men. Is that a good thing?.
Well of course it’s a good thing. On one condition . . .
Yeah, but it’s never that condition, is it?
The article seems to think that the return of fringes is a sign. And somehow, the writer seems to think the following picture indicates a return to hippie-dom.
Clint Eastwood a sign of hippie-dom from the 1960s? It is to laugh.
However, supposedly some of the latest fashion designers are returning just a bit of what is being termed “hippie”. Embroidered caftans. Dream-catcher necklaces. Headbands and beads.
But the writer also recommends “some groovy Adidas sneaks”.
Doesn’t he know that it is bare feet that characterize hippie footwear (or, I should say, lack thereof)? Or at the most, sandals.
Well, maybe if fashion and style gets a bit hippier bare feet might return.
We can always dream, can’t we?
