Here’s another photo from the Columbus Dispatch. I’ll show them when they occasionally feature a barefooted person as part of their general feature of photos of people around town.
The photo appeared last Saturday.

Catfish Hunter | William Lanning, 12, of German Village, works to untangle his fishing line in his neighborhood’s Schiller Park. He and his friend had already hauled in a catfish, but hoped to catch more.

This is rather interesting, I think. Of course you want to be barefoot when fishing from the shore. But look at those monster clodhoppers sitting on the side. No wonder he took them off.
The real question is why wear them in the first place?
They look like *swagger* shoes. I.e. part of current youth cool dude fashion. I just roll my eyes at the idea.
It looks like either one of them would weigh more than everything else he is wearing. It’s like summer wear and army boots.
Well, his feet do appear to be on the large side. The reason he was wearing them in the first place is probably because his mom and/or dad told him he had to. If that is the case, he probably got into trouble when his parents saw this photo.
That’s a depressing thought.
