Here’s another in the series of photographs from The Columbus Dispatch, from yesterday’s paper.
As I’ve said before, everyday’s paper contains a photograph or two of people around town. It’s actually a very nice feature (and a reason why people should continue to subscribe to newspapers, since only they can do the kind of local reporting that we need to be more fully informed).
Also, occasionally, that photograph will show barefoot people around town. Usually, it is barefoot kids, but today it was a barefoot adult.

Here you go, pumpkin | Rick Neal, left, laughs as his daughter, Amoret, 3, boasts a pumpkin smile held up by nanny Jina Santiago while they carve jack-’o-lanterns on the porch of Neal’s German Village home. Amoret plans to dress up as a pirate for Halloween. Today’s carving forecast: Sunny, high of 81.

The picture was probably taken on Wednesday, when we had a high temperature of around 78°, so this was not a case of braving the elements. It also wasn’t a case of challenging conventions.
But it was still nice to see that there are folks who are not utterly paranoid.

I just wonder how on earth is being barefoot on ones own doorway is unusual? Is it that rare in Ohio now? (Considering that, in terms of where I live this is summertime-like hot)
Alex, I wouldn’t call it unusual, just uncommon. Maybe one in a hundred? But for some reason, the photographer liked this scene, and that’s the one that appeared in the newspaper.
