Here’s another in the series of “local color” photographs that appear in The Columbus Dispatch.
This appeared in today’s (10/12/12) newspaper.

It’s really interesting that kids still manage to play barefoot despite all the fearmongering that occurs around it. It’s also rather interesting that our cooler weather lately (high yesterday was 60°) hasn’t deterred it.
And doesn’t Madison know that 55° is too cold to be barefoot?
Of course, I ask that facetiously. But there is some truth to it. A kid will not necessarily have had it drilled into them that their feet should be cold, and as a result, their feet aren’t cold. Besides, her activity jumping around was probably more than enough to generate the heat to keep her warm all over.
But it is good to see barefooting survive as the seasons change.

It’s an unfortunate rarity to see kids barefoot, but glad you’ve found a few in the last short while. Hopefully it’s a trend that will continue to happen.
