The Columbus Dispatch ran another barefoot photo yesterday.
I really like this one.

Monkeyin’ around | Michael Fister, 7, of Blacklick, climbs a stalk at Hannah Park in Gahanna. Michael says people call him “M” for “monkey” because he likes climbing so much. He was at the park this week with his brother Jacob, 2, and their uncle Joseph Grutsch.

What I like about the photo is the way the kid’s bare feet are really being used. It’s not a passive barefoot shot, but the bare feet are an integral part of Michael’s ability to climb the stalk.

I like seeing feet working too! Even if it is something as simple as a person keeping their balance while lifting something or doing some task barefoot. (Watch the gymnasts during the Olympics.) After watching for a while, you realize how much you depend on your feet to keep you stable. And how it is best done barefoot.
Great find Bob! I love active shots for exactly the reason you mentioned. This is a perfect example of bare feet benefiting a child. No theory, nothing to debate. Everyone knows a child could never climb like that with shoes on. Also his climbing method and the caption suggest this youngster might go barefoot often!
