Bizarro is a very, uh, interesting (and enjoyable) comic strip. Here’s one from back in 2002 you might find amusing.
By the way, I’ve tried Dr. Scholl’s Custom Fit Orthotic Center. Yup, it told me what sort of orthotic I needed.
What it didn’t tell me was how to fasten their orthotic onto my bare foot.
It also didn’t really determine whether the orthotic was even necessary. And about the only time they are necessary is when your feet are being mishaped by shoes.
Ya think there might be a better solution to that?

I tried the Dr. Scholl’s machine as well, with very strange results. I tried it just standing normal a couple times, then I tried to stand flatfooted, high-arched, front-heavy, and heel-heavy. Each time it recommended about the same exact product.
Not that I was really expecting it to work anyway, but I thought it would do a better job than that. It kind of makes me think it might be basing it more on foot size or weight than anything else. Of course, I’m sure it starts with the assumption that you need some sort of “fixing,” but I’d be very curious as to what it thinks a perfect footprint would look like.
I also really didn’t like that it didn’t mention WHY it thought I needed a particular product. On the commercial, the machine said “You have flat feet. We recommend this product…” but all the real machine did was recommend a product.
